The Show also features the 15th English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition, 24 of the top chainsaw carvers from around the world. An International event consisting of two competitions – The Classic a 3 day competition where the carvers have one large piece of timber to create a sculpture using their chainsaw and other tools. This competition attracts a lot of interest as the large sculptures contain a great deal of work and detail from the carvers. Judging takes place at the end of the competition with each piece being auctioned on Monday (final day) of the show.
The second competition – The Combo is split into two sections over the three days. Day 1 – a chainsaw only competition where the carvers create a sculpture out of a piece of timber using only a chainsaw. There are prizes for the chainsaw carvers for the winning pieces. These are then put for sale in an auction on the Sunday (2nd day) of the show.
The second part of the combo is a one and a half day carving using chainsaw and power tools. These tend not to be as large as the classic carvings but this depends on the size of timber picked by the carver at the log draw. Again the carvings are put into the auction at the end of the competition (Monday of the show).
There is plenty of chance to buy smaller carvings in the speed carving arena where daily speed carves take place each day throughout the show. Two to three 30 minute speed carves take place each day with all the fun of the auction for each carving produced.
With country clothing, quality country trade stands and children’s amusements we can offer you an unbeatable family day out.
