 | FACTS ABOUT THIS RUG This is an immensely sturdy yet fine and versatile rug/carpet created using Rachel John’s Extreme Knitting. The design to echo an architectural feel. The colour range in this rug is about describing the effect of oxidisation of metals. The objective chosen for this concept piece to put hand knitting elegantly & comfortably into an intensely contemporary setting, designed for a steel and glass environment – a surprising juxtaposition. We haven’t seen much hand knitting displayed and used in this environment; partly because there are not many appropriate techniques that produce items to sit comfortably with the design style.
Extreme Knitting brings new products to the marketplace and opens up all sorts of possibilities for functional art pieces. This rug is 1 of a kind being an innovative concept piece in the use of 100-140 yarns simultaneously for hand knitting.
