Extreme Knitting Starter Workshop
1 Day Course £70 per person
A taster session for Extreme Knitting. Play with the tools and learn a few techniques. Make a small rug. This workshop has proved to be great fun for all and is a big eye opener in the use of yarns and tools.
Level of skill: You only need to know how to cast on and off, knit in garter and stocking stitch. This course is not about stitch type.
Materials and tools: £30.00 for yarn and a pair of Extreme Knitting needles per person. You are welcome to bring a black bag full of yarns and stranded material or bring what you have and make up the difference.
1 DAY COURSE: EXTREME KNITTING STARTER WORKSHOP
Explore new horizons! With new tools and techniques this is the 21st century for hand knitters. Come and try out this stimulating accelerated method of knitting using multiple strands of fibre simultaneously. Mixing strands gives the opportunity to blend many colours and types of fibre in a creative and painterly way. Extreme knitting is an inspiring and incredibly fast technique. You can produce huge single pieces (no sewing) to provide fantastic heirloom quality home furnishings.
TIMETABLE 10:00 – 10:15 Introduction/health and safety
10:15 – 11:00 Deciding colour range/inspiration for a sample. Preparing wool.
11:00 – 12:30 Casting on, stitch types, Make your 1st item.
12:30 – 13:30 Lunch
13:30 – 15:00 Increase the numbers of strands and try a larger piece.
15:00 – 15:30 Casting off and finishing.
15:30 – 16:00 Course end – questions and feedback. |
MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
£30.00 per person for yarn and a pair of Extreme Knitting needles.You are welcome bring a black bag full of yarns and stranded material or bring what you have and make up the difference.
In our experience most attendees like to continue through lunch – packed lunches are useful.
